Vietnam Projects

Partners only; choose from the list, please

FOR MONDAY
Each partner will find 5 resources for their topic. They must be relevant and
carefully chosen. I will check them.

Also, you need to have a point of view or thesis. For example, -Protest songs helped end the war; or, - Soldiers letters are the same no matter what side you are on; or,
War posters always convince the public that their side of the war is right; etc.
Bring in two THESIS statements for Monday.

Vietnam Projects: Choose one; w/ one partner

Listen to 10 protest or pro-war songs about Vietnam; choose 4 favorites to play for the class; include lyrics and your analysis of the lyrics; write and sing your own song to protest of support a recent war

Create a Vietnam Memorial with a point of view

Make your own documentary film about Vietnam using website footage

Read the letters of 10 American soldiers;; - as investigative historical journalists your task is to craft a group PowerPoint presentation, based on historical evidence in set out to reconstruct the history of an event (My Lai, Tet Offensive, etc.) through the letters aof the Vietnam soldier. Choose letters that reflect the politics and history

Watch Platoon, Deer Hunter, My Lai Massacre, or Full Metal Jacket. Tell the story of the movie from the point of view of one of the characters. Write an analysis of the film. Integrate the history of Vietnam and how it is represented in the film.

Review and analyze 12 posters about Vietnam; 8 American; 4 N. Vietnamese; make a powerpoint presentation. Make your own American poster pro and con Vietnam.

Write and perform a play based upon a true incident in the Vietnam War. My Lai
