To be fair: If you already completed one on time, I will allow you to do a second film

The Movie Review: How to Prepare and Write It! Due Monday. No Late Work!

How to Write a Movie Review: Outline and Final Essay

1. Watch the movie. Take notes about the movie as you watch it, regarding basic plot points, acting, special effects and other characteristics of the movie. Answer the questions I have provided.
2. Now, create an outline of the paragraphs for your final review. Use the first paragraph to describe the basic plot of the movie and basic character descriptions. Include your opinion of the plot and characters: was it boring, exciting, difficult to follow? Were the characters believable and likeable?
3. What is one of the most important scenes? Describe it. Why is it important?
4. Now….Add the most important thoughts and details from your responses to my questions.

5. Finish your review with overall reflections on the movie. Consider giving the movie a grade, such as B+ or C-, or a number of stars (generally out of five). You will write an overall conclusion and summary of the movie to explain why You gave the film this ‘grade’. Explain why the public should or should not see this film.

Thursday and Friday; I will be at a conference! You will review your film!

Who might benefit from the messages in this film? What have I learned from this film? Why might the film's message(s) matter to me?
Response What kinds of actions might I take today in response to this film? What recent events in the world today should I be aware of? Why? (such as Rwanda, Uganda, Syria, etc.)

2. NOW: Write a one page, double spaced, movie review using your responses above.
